The reference design is a high effiency (>94%) isolated AC/DC single string output LED lighting solution for high watt (>100W) general LED lighting. The topology uses Transition Mode (TM) PFC plus LLC control: which can support PWM dimming and analog dimming on the output side. The target application for this reference design is TV LED backlight: outdoor and high-bay general LED lighting. CT is eliminated in the design and the PSR controller UCC28700 is used for aux power in order to reduce overall cost.

This reference design uses TI multi-transformer LLC controller UCC25710 and transition mode PFC controller UCC28810 to develop a 100W four strings with 500mA per string output for general LED lighting driver. The key benefits for this solution are high efficiency: high power factor and good current matching. Meanwhile: the reference design uses innovative self start up circuit to supply Vcc on the primary side (UCC28810) and secondary side (UCC25710): and it does not use any auxilary Flyback to power main controllers. The application can be used in general LED lighting such as street light and commercial light.

PMP6252 is a reference design for 90W LCD TV power by using the UCC28051 to construct PFC: UCC25710 to construct LED driver LLC converter: UCC25600 to construct 5V and 12V converter and UCC28610 to construct standby flyback converter. This driver provides 4 outputs including LED driver: 12.7V 3A: 5V 3A and 5V standby 2A; and has the capability to operate at 90~264Vac.The LED driver is designed using multi-transformer topology by UCC25710 which can improve efficiency: has protection function and decrease component count. A thorough analysis of PFC: LLC: cascade QR flyback operation and performance along with design optimization guidelines are presented. Experimental results obtained on every general condition load are provided.

This design is based on PMP4350 and supports higher output voltage up to 380V. Different from PMP4350: the high voltage LED switch MOSFET is removed and reduced overall cost.
