The WM8904ECS/R can be configured for different audio formats using the I2C interface. The device has several registers that control the audio format, such as the Audio Format Register (AFR) and the Sample Rate Register (SRR). The power consumption of the WM8904ECS/R depends on the operating mode and the clock frequency. The WM8904ECS/R has a mute function that can be controlled using the MUTE pin. When the MUTE pin is pulled low, the device enters a low-power state and the audio output is muted. The mute function can also be controlled using the I2C interface by writing to the Mute Control Register (MCR).
The WM8904ECS/R supports clock frequencies up to 50MHz. However, the recommended clock frequency is 12.288MHz, which is the standard clock frequency for audio applications.
