VPT100-5000 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Triad Magnetics recommends a symmetrical PCB layout with the transformer centered on the board, and keeping the primary and secondary windings as close together as possible to minimize leakage inductance.

  • The VPT100-5000 has a maximum operating temperature of 130°C, but derating is required above 100°C. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and ensure proper thermal management in high-temperature applications.

  • Follow the recommended clearance and creepage distances specified in the datasheet, and ensure that the transformer is properly insulated from other components and the PCB. Use a suitable potting compound or conformal coating if necessary.

  • Triad Magnetics recommends using a minimum of 18 AWG wire for the primary winding and 20 AWG wire for the secondary winding, with a suitable insulation rating for the operating voltage and temperature.

  • The VPT100-5000 is designed to withstand moderate vibration and shock, but may require additional mechanical support or potting in extreme environments. Consult Triad Magnetics for specific guidance on mechanical robustness.
