Traco Power recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area connected to the tab of the device to ensure good thermal conduction. A minimum of 1 square inch of copper area is recommended.
To ensure the output voltage is within the specified tolerance, it is recommended to use a minimum load of 10% of the maximum rated output current. Additionally, the input voltage should be within the specified range, and the device should be operated within the recommended temperature range.
The maximum capacitance on the output depends on the specific application and the desired level of output voltage ripple. As a general guideline, Traco Power recommends a maximum capacitance of 10uF to 22uF. However, it is recommended to consult with Traco Power's application engineers for specific guidance.
Traco Power recommends using external overvoltage protection (OVP) and undervoltage protection (UVP) circuits to protect the device from abnormal input voltage conditions. The OVP and UVP circuits should be designed to disconnect the input voltage from the device in case of an overvoltage or undervoltage condition.
The recommended input fuse rating depends on the specific application and the maximum input current. As a general guideline, Traco Power recommends a fuse rating of 1.5 to 2 times the maximum input current. However, it is recommended to consult with Traco Power's application engineers for specific guidance.
