  • A good PCB layout is crucial for the SG7812T-JAN. Ensure a solid ground plane, keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use a Kelvin connection for the sense pins. Microchip provides a recommended layout in their application notes.

  • Choose input capacitors with low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and high ripple current rating. Output capacitors should have low ESR and be rated for the output voltage. A 10uF to 22uF ceramic capacitor is a good starting point for both input and output.
