Tip: Data for a part may vary between manufacturers. You can filter for manufacturers on the top of the page next to the part image and part number.
PHA-101+ by Mini-Circuits is an RF/Microwave Amplifier.
RF/Microwave Amplifiers are under the broader part category of RF and Microwave Components.
RF and Microwave Engineering focuses on the design and operation of devices that transmit or receive radio waves. The main distinction between RF and microwave engineering is their wavelength, which influences how energy is transmitted and used in various applications. A good PCB layout practice is to use a solid ground plane, keep the signal traces short and away from the edges, and use a common ground point for the amplifier's ground pins. A 4-layer PCB with a dedicated ground plane is recommended.
The PHA-101+ has a fixed bias, but you can adjust the quiescent current by changing the voltage supply. For optimal performance, adjust the supply voltage to achieve the desired quiescent current, typically between 10-20mA.
The PHA-101+ can handle up to +10dBm of input power without damage. Exceeding this limit may cause permanent damage to the amplifier.
To ensure stability, use a 10nF to 100nF capacitor between the output and ground, and a 10Ω to 100Ω resistor in series with the output. Additionally, use a low-inductance output circuit and avoid long output traces.
The PHA-101+ is designed to operate from -40°C to +85°C. Operating outside this range may affect the amplifier's performance and reliability.
