  • A 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a thermal relief pattern and a solid ground plane is recommended. Ensure a minimum of 1 oz copper thickness and a 1-inch square copper pour on the bottom layer for heat dissipation.

  • Implement a heat sink with a thermal interface material, ensure good airflow, and consider using a thermistor or thermocouple to monitor the temperature. Also, follow the recommended derating curves for high-temperature operation.

  • The maximum allowable voltage stress is 1.5 times the rated voltage (587V) for a maximum of 100ms. Exceeding this may cause permanent damage to the device.

  • Use a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) or a metal-oxide varistor (MOV) in parallel with the device to absorb voltage spikes. Ensure the protection device is rated for the maximum voltage and energy of the system.

  • Follow a soldering profile with a peak temperature of 260°C (500°F) for 10-15 seconds, with a ramp-up rate of 3°C/s and a ramp-down rate of 6°C/s. Ensure the device is not exposed to temperatures above 260°C for more than 10 seconds.
