  • The maximum voltage that can be applied to the VM pin is 40V, but it's recommended to keep it below 35V for reliable operation.

  • The value of R Sense should be chosen based on the maximum current rating of the motor and the desired current sense accuracy. A good starting point is to use a value between 0.1 ohm and 1 ohm, and then adjust based on the specific application requirements.

  • The ENN pin is an enable input that allows the L6474H to be put into a low-power standby mode. When ENN is low, the device is disabled and consumes minimal power. To use it, simply tie ENN to a digital output from your microcontroller, and set it high to enable the L6474H and low to disable it.

  • To configure the L6474H for microstepping mode, you need to set the M1 and M2 pins accordingly. For example, to enable 16-microstep mode, set M1 high and M2 low. Refer to the datasheet for the specific pin configurations for different microstepping modes.

  • For optimal thermal performance, it's recommended to use a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and to place the L6474H near a heat sink or a metal plate. Ensure good airflow around the device, and avoid placing heat-sensitive components nearby.
