The maximum voltage that can be applied to the VM pin is 40V, but it's recommended to keep it below 35V for reliable operation.
The value of R Sense should be chosen based on the maximum current rating of the motor and the desired current sense accuracy. A good starting point is to use a value between 0.1 ohm and 1 ohm, and then adjust based on the specific application requirements.
The ENN pin is an enable input that allows the L6474H to be put into a low-power standby mode. When ENN is low, the device is disabled and consumes minimal power. To use it, simply tie ENN to a digital output from your microcontroller, and set it high to enable the L6474H and low to disable it.
To configure the L6474H for microstepping mode, you need to set the M1 and M2 pins accordingly. For example, to enable 16-microstep mode, set M1 high and M2 low. Refer to the datasheet for the specific pin configurations for different microstepping modes.
For optimal thermal performance, it's recommended to use a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and to place the L6474H near a heat sink or a metal plate. Ensure good airflow around the device, and avoid placing heat-sensitive components nearby.
