K30C/C Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Vector Electronics recommends a 4-layer PCB with a dedicated ground plane and thermal vias to dissipate heat. A minimum of 2 oz copper thickness is recommended for the power traces. Additionally, a thermal pad on the bottom of the device should be connected to a heat sink or a thermal interface material.

  • To ensure reliable communication, use a pull-up resistor on the CS pin, and a pull-down resistor on the SCK pin. Also, ensure that the SPI clock frequency is within the recommended range of 100 kHz to 1 MHz. Additionally, use a buffer or a repeater if the distance between the K30C/C and the microcontroller is greater than 10 inches.

  • The K30C/C is rated for operation from -40°C to +125°C, but the accuracy and stability of the sensor may degrade above 85°C. It's recommended to use a heat sink or thermal management system to keep the device temperature below 85°C for optimal performance.

  • Vector Electronics provides a calibration procedure in the datasheet, which involves applying a known pressure and temperature to the sensor and adjusting the internal calibration coefficients.
