Microchip recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and to keep the high-voltage traces short and away from sensitive analog signals. Additionally, use a common mode choke and a shielded cable for the high-voltage output to reduce EMI.
To ensure reliable startup and shutdown, make sure to follow the recommended power-up and power-down sequences in the datasheet. Also, add a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current and prevent voltage overshoots.
The maximum allowed voltage drop across the internal switches is approximately 1.5V. Exceeding this voltage drop may lead to reduced reliability and increased power dissipation.
While the HV2661FG-G is rated for operation up to 125°C, it's essential to consider the thermal management and derate the output power accordingly to ensure reliable operation. A heat sink or thermal pad may be necessary to maintain a safe junction temperature.
Use an oscilloscope to monitor the input and output voltages, as well as the internal switch node voltages. Also, check the fault flags and error codes to identify the source of the issue. Consult the datasheet and application notes for guidance on troubleshooting specific problems.
