  • The recommended PCB layout for optimal thermal performance involves placing the device on a 2-layer or 4-layer board with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer, and using thermal vias to connect the exposed pad to the ground plane. Additionally, it is recommended to keep the thermal path as short as possible and to use a thermal pad or heat sink to dissipate heat.

  • To ensure the device is properly biased during startup, it is recommended to use a soft-start circuit to slowly ramp up the input voltage to the device. This can be achieved using a resistor-capacitor (RC) network or a dedicated soft-start IC. Additionally, it is recommended to use a voltage supervisor or reset IC to ensure the device is held in reset until the input voltage reaches a stable level.

  • The maximum allowed voltage on the EN pin is 6V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device. It is recommended to use a voltage divider or a level shifter to ensure the EN pin voltage does not exceed 6V.

  • The output voltage ripple can be calculated using the following formula: ΔVout = (Iout * ESL) / (Cout * fsw), where ΔVout is the output voltage ripple, Iout is the output current, ESL is the equivalent series inductance of the output capacitor, Cout is the output capacitance, and fsw is the switching frequency. The output voltage ripple can also be measured using an oscilloscope or a ripple measurement tool.

  • The recommended input capacitor type is a low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF. The input capacitor should be placed as close as possible to the VIN pin and should have a voltage rating of at least 25V.
