  • The maximum voltage that can be applied to the VM pin is 15V, but it's recommended to keep it below 12V for optimal performance and to prevent overheating.

  • The current sense resistor value can be calculated using the formula: RSENSE = 0.1V / ISENSE_MAX, where ISENSE_MAX is the maximum current you want to sense. For example, if you want to sense up to 1A, RSENSE would be 0.1V / 1A = 0.1 ohms.

  • The nSLEEP pin is an active-low input that puts the device into a low-power sleep mode when pulled low. To use it, connect a pull-up resistor to VCC and a switch or a logic signal to ground. When the switch is closed or the logic signal is low, the device will enter sleep mode.

  • To configure the DRV8830DRCT for a unipolar stepper motor, connect the motor windings to the AOUT1 and AOUT2 pins, and the common wire to the VM pin. Set the MODE pin to logic high for a unipolar configuration. You may also need to adjust the current limit and decay mode settings depending on your motor's characteristics.
