CC1000PWR Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the RF traces as short as possible and use a 50-ohm impedance-controlled line to the antenna.

  • Use the lowest possible frequency and data rate, and enable the power-saving modes (e.g., sleep mode) when the device is not transmitting or receiving. Also, consider using a low-power microcontroller and optimizing the firmware to minimize current consumption.

  • The maximum transmit power of the CC1000PWR is +10 dBm. You can adjust the transmit power by programming the PATABLE register (0x1A-0x1F) to set the desired power level.

  • Use the FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) mode by setting the FREQ_HOPPING register (0x24) to 1. Then, program the frequency hopping sequence using the FREQ_HOP_TABLE registers (0x25-0x2F).

  • A quarter-wavelength monopole antenna or a dipole antenna with a 50-ohm impedance is recommended. The antenna should be designed to operate at the desired frequency band (e.g., 433 MHz or 868 MHz).
