Resources and Additional Insights for AD847

Reference Designs related to AD847

• CN0271 - Thermocouple Temperature Measurement System with Amplifier - Based Cold Junction Compensation
The thermocouple is a simple, widely used component for measuring temperature. It consists of a junction of two dissimilar metals. These metals are connected at one end to form the measurement junction, also called the hot junction. The other end of the thermocouple is connected to the metal lines that lead to the measurement electronics. This connection forms a second junction: the reference junction, also called the cold junction. To derive the temperature at the measurement junction (TMJ), the user must know the differential voltage created by the thermocouple. The user must also know the error voltage generated by the temperature at the reference junction (TRJ). Compensating for the reference junction error voltage is called cold junction compensation. The electronics must compensate for any changes in temperature at the reference (cold) junction so that the output voltage is an accurate representation of the hot junction measurement.
• CN0385 - Isolated, Multichannel Data Acquisition System with PGIA for Single-Ended and Differential Industrial Level Signals
This circuit is an isolated multichannel data acquisition signal chain consisting of a multiplexer, programmable gain stage, ADC driver, and a fully differential, precision, successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. The channel switching and gain switching is synchronized to the conversion period of the ADC.
• CN0345 - Low Power, Multichannel Data Acquisition System with PGIA for Single-Ended and Differential Industrial-Level Signals
This circuit is a multichannel data acquisition signal chain consisting of a multiplexer, programmable gain stage, ADC driver, and a fully-differential PulSAR ADC. The channel switching and gain switching is synchronized to the conversion period of the ADC.
• CN0240 - Bidirectional Isolated High-Side Current Sense with 270 V Common-Mode Rejection
The circuit is designed for a full-scale shunt voltage of 100 mV at maximum load current IMAX. Therefore, the value of the shunt resistor is RSHUNT = (500 mV)/(IMAX).
• CN0292 - Completely Isolated, Robust, 4-Channel, Multiplexed Data Acquisition System for Industrial Level Signals
This circuit is a completely isolated, robust, industrial, 4-channel data acquisition system that provides 16-bit, noise free code resolution and an automatic channel switching rate of up to 42 kSPS. The channel to channel crosstalk at 42 kSPS switching is less than 15 ppm FS (less than −90 dB) because of the unique selection of fast settling components in the multiplexed signal chain.
The circuit acquires and digitizes standard industrial signal levels of ±5 V, ±10 V, 0 V to 10 V, and 0 mA to 20 mA. The input buffers also provide overvoltage protection, thereby eliminating the leakage errors associated with conventional Schottky diode protection circuits.
Applications for the circuit include process control (PLC/DCS modules), battery testing, scientific multichannel instrumentation, and chromatography.
• CN0180 - Precision, Low Power, Single-Supply, Fully Integrated Differential ADC Driver for Industrial-Level Signals
The AD8475 attenuating amplifier and AD7982 18-bit differ-ential ADC can be used in a high precision analog front-end system to process large voltages using a single 5 V supply.
• CN0272 - 2 MHz Bandwidth PIN Photodiode Preamp with Dark Current Compensation
This circuit is a high speed photodiode signal conditioning circuit with dark current compensation. The system converts current from a high speed silicon PIN photodiode and drives the inputs of a 20 MSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This combination of parts offers spectral sensitivity from 400 nm to 1050 nm with 49 nA of photocurrent sensitivity, a dynamic range of 91 dB, and a bandwidth of 2 MHz. The signal conditioning circuitry of the system consumes only 40 mA of current from the ±5 V supplies making this configuration suitable for portable high speed, high resolution light intensity applications, such as pulse oximetry.
• CN0269 - 18-Bit, 1.33 MSPS, 16-Channel Data Acquisition System
This circuit is a classic multichannel nonsynchronous data acquisition signal chain consisting of a multiplexer, amplifiers, and an ADC.
• CN0251 - 24-Bit, 4.7 Hz, 4-Channel Analog Data Acquisiton System
The circuit comprises of an ADG1409 multiplexer, an AD8226 instrumentation amplifier, an AD8475 difference amplifier, and an AD7192 Σ-Δ ADC with an ADR444 reference, and the ADP1720 regulator. Only a few external components are used for protection, filtering, and decoupling, making this circuit highly integrated, and it requires a small circuit board (printed circuit board [PCB]) area.
• CN0310 - 24-Bit, 250 kSPS Single-Supply Data Acquisition System
The industrial level signals are applied to the AD8475 precision differential funnel amplifier that attenuates the input by either 0.8× or 0.4×. Its integrated, trimmed, and matched precision resistors control the attenuation. The resistors allow single-ended or differential inputs up to ±12.5 V when operating the AD8475 on a single 5 V supply with a gain of 0.4×. The input has overvoltage protection up to ±15 V.
