Figure 1 shows the single supply signal chain that consists of a voltage reference, a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and a DAC buffer. The reference voltage of the DAC is equal to the supply voltage, VDD, to maximize dynamic output range and signal-to-noise ratio. With this configuration, a rail-to-rail input and output buffer amplifier is required.
