A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the analog and digital grounds separate and connect them at a single point. Use a low-ESR capacitor for the VCC pin and a 0.1uF capacitor for the AVCC pin. Keep the PLL loop filter components close to the device.
Ensure a clean power-up sequence by applying VCC before AVCC. Use a power-on reset (POR) circuit to ensure a clean reset. Initialize the device by writing to the control registers in the correct sequence, as specified in the datasheet.
Choose components with low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and a high quality factor (Q). Ensure the component values are within the recommended range to maintain PLL stability. Use a low-pass filter configuration to minimize noise and spurious signals.

Ensure good thermal conductivity between the device and the PCB. Use a thermal pad or a heat sink to dissipate heat. Keep the device away from heat sources and ensure good airflow around the device.
